DuPont was sent to court by the family of a former employee. The family states that their husband and father died as a result of DuPont failing to warn about the dangers of asbestos exposure.
The name of the deceased is Albert Abshire, dead on the 23rd of December 2008. The mesothelioma claim was filed on the 31st of July this year. The individual died after suffering from mesothelioma cancer and pleural asbestosis. The family accuses the company for the death of their loved one and says that DuPont allows their workers to perform daily tasks around asbestos without the necessary protection.
According to the Southeast Texas Record, DuPont is and was aware of the dangers involved with asbestos and the potential for deadly diseases. The problem is that the diseases caused by asbestos are latent, and remain undiscovered until it is too late for treatment.
As mentioned in many studies conducted recently, mesothelioma and asbestosis are mostly fatal diseases, with no cure. Both of these diseases are caused b asbestos fibers traveling to the lung region and allowing for malignant cells to develop freely. Most of the times, the diseases lead to a very painful death for the victim and are also subject to many mesothelioma lawsuits and trials around the country.
Workers in industrial facilities are the most affected by asbestos exposure in Texas. The family of Albert Abshire requires a set compensation from DuPont, stating that their loved was exposed to asbestos while working for the Jefferson County, Texas facility.
