A former paper mill worker, Henry Barabin, along with his wife, filed a asbestos-mesothelioma lawsuit against the two companies for which he worked in the past.
We are talking about the Scapa Dryer Fabrics Inc. and Asten Johnson Company.
After some recent studies at this two companies, the results where showing that the companies used many materials and products containing asbestos and that workers were exposed to high contaminated air when working.
Henry Barbin worked for Scapa Dryer Fabrics Inc. and Asten Johnson, as a laborer, between 1964-2001.
First he exposed him self between 1964-1968, when working at the Texaco Refinery, in Port Arthur. He worked as a paper mill in Camas, at the Crown Zellerbach, in Washington, from 1968 to 2001.
Henry Barabin was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma in early 2006. He blames the companies for his health problems, because during his work for these two companies, he was permanently exposed to asbestos fiber, to contaminated air, without knowing the risks.
Mr. Barabin was exposed to asbestos dust, which was released from asbestos containing dryer fabrics during normal handling.
It is important to know that the asbestos dryer fabrics did not include labels pointing the possible danger that can be caused by asbestos exposure.
Henry and Geraldine Barabin contacted a Texas mesothelioma lawyer and filed a $10.2 million lawsuit against the two companies for reasons related to asbestos exposure which is the main cause for developing mesothelioma cancer.
Mesothelioma cancer is a rare form of cancer and if not detected in time it can cause death. Symptoms can appear even after 40 years from the exposure. It is a very serious health problem and it is caused by exposure to asbestos.
The Texas' jury awarded Barabin $8 million in non economics damages and also a $1.5 million for her loss of consortium claim. They have also received an additional $700.000 for mesothelioma medical expenses.
