This type of media has grown 15 times over the past 4 years. The money spent for such advertising has also increased from 3 million dollars per year to over 60 in the same period.
Locals in certain areas of the state can easily recognize at least a dozen mesothelioma law firms spots that have been aired during commercial period on TV. In one such ad, the lawyer’s lists some drugs and instructs the viewer to contact his firm in order to receive legal advice towards filing a claim. This is mostly occurring against pharmaceutical companies that provide bad drugs to their clients and customers.
We tried to contact some of the attorneys that appear in these commercials, but they were no where to be found, they or their assistants. They also did not return any calls.
A local television representative says that ads for and about lawyers have been in the same numbers for a number of years. Another said that in his area there were always personal injury ads, but no malpractice ones. This man also stated that more and more people are using television to make their messages heard and known. It is no more taboo subject. In the last few years insurance ads have been more common compared to legal ads because of the three hurricanes that have hit the Southeast of Texas in recent years.
